Something Different

We have been involved in a lot of non-trailer related bespoke design and fabrication projects. Here are just a few.

On the right is a marketing promotion for British Gas. The marketing company, who we have worked with on numerous occasions, said they required 'something to enable a person to run in a ball as part of a dynamic promotional campaign. We utilized an inflatable zorbing ball and I developed a cradle with rollers to support the zorb and two platforms for the entry and exit of the contestants. Members of the general public were than invited to run for thirty seconds to see if they could 'zorb' further than, amongst others, Rebecca Adlington. The distance they zorbed was then recorded and listed on a screen with those of other participants.

Our experience with agriculture enabled us to design and make a Land Rover-based crop sprayer, which allows access to steep and rough terrain where conventional crop sprayers dare not go due to their high center of gravity. The booms are electric/hydraulic control from inside the cab.

To the right and bottom right are two pieces of equipment we have made for a cable manufacturing plant.

Top right is a multiple pay-off rack, enabling up to 14 drums of wire to be drawn at once for producing a cable. A tension brake is fitted to prevent overrun.

Bottom right is a driven take-up unit, to hold up to a 2 ton x 1.5m drum. This would be placed at the end of a cable production line, the drum is driven though a geared motor and a slip clutch, to gently pull the cabling onto the drum. To ensure a neat winding, the unit has a traverse head, that travels across the width of the drum to feed the cable on. The drums are lifted and locked into place by hydraulics.

This is just a very small selection of the diverse design and build work we have undertaken, so if you

have a project in mind why not give us a call.
